Please contact Berkeley County Animal Control (BCAC) at 304-263-4729 if a dog is running at large or is injured. In the event of an emergency, such as a dog bite or injured animal, and BCAC is not available, please dial 911.
The City of Martinsburg allows two adult dogs per household. The exception to this is for those who hold a kennel license for a commercial kennel. Kennel licenses are restricted by zoning and will not be issued expressly for the purpose of keeping additional dogs in an household.
The City of Martinsburg prohibits the keeping of farm animals and dangerous animals. This includes backyard chickens and other fowl as well as goats, swine (including pot-bellied pigs) or any animal expressly listed in Section 505.07 or 505.13 (c).
The City of Martinsburg does not require a special City dog license or registration, however, all dogs residing in City limits MUST be registered and licensed with Berkeley County and must have a current rabies vaccination.
