FULL TIME PLANNING DEPARTMENT CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER

 The City of Martinsburg Planning Department has an immediate opening for a full time Code Enforcement Officer. Graduation from high school or GED equivalent and two (2) years of experience related to inspection, land use, or any related fields and the ability to obtain required certification through the International Code Council as a “Property Maintenance Inspector” within 2 years of hire.

Applicant must possess working knowledge of code enforcement principles, practices and methods, applicable laws, standards and regulations relating to various land use, nuisance and public safety codes, and a working knowledge of inspection techniques required.

Successful candidate will have the ability to prepare, organize and maintain inspection file data, reports and systems; ability to analyze problems and data and use sound judgment in decision making, the ability to produce or obtain reports, graphs, charts, photographs, evidence or exhibits as required. Applicant must be detail oriented and able to communicate clearly, concisely and legibly and to testify in court in an objective, concise and professional manner.

A valid driver’s license is also required for the position. Applicant must be able to meet all physical requirements of position, including the ability to work outdoors, stand and walk on a regular basis, occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

CASHIER I 

The City of Martinsburg is accepting applications for the position of Full-Time Cashier I-Finance Department. Position requires high school diploma or GED equivalent with specialized course work in general office practices such as accounting, typing and data processing.

The successful candidate would perform clerical and computerized cashier duties, receive and process cash, checks and credit cards as payment forms, make proper change accurately and promptly, sort and process mail, utilize a multi-line switchboard to direct incoming phone calls and address citizen visits concerning City services. Candidate must be able to successfully multi-task when high customer volume and interruption occurs. Position is responsible for other duties as assigned. 

Strong customer service skills are required as well as the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

The position is a pay grade 7 with a starting wage of $30,092 and includes an excellent benefit package.
