FULL TIME PLANNING DEPARTMENT CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER

 The City of Martinsburg Planning Department has an immediate opening for a full time Code Enforcement Officer. Graduation from high school or GED equivalent and two (2) years of experience related to inspection, land use, or any related fields and the ability to obtain required certification through the International Code Council as a “Property Maintenance Inspector” within 2 years of hire.

Applicant must possess working knowledge of code enforcement principles, practices and methods, applicable laws, standards and regulations relating to various land use, nuisance and public safety codes, and a working knowledge of inspection techniques required.

Successful candidate will have the ability to prepare, organize and maintain inspection file data, reports and systems; ability to analyze problems and data and use sound judgment in decision making, the ability to produce or obtain reports, graphs, charts, photographs, evidence or exhibits as required. Applicant must be detail oriented and able to communicate clearly, concisely and legibly and to testify in court in an objective, concise and professional manner.

A valid driver’s license is also required for the position. Applicant must be able to meet all physical requirements of position, including the ability to work outdoors, stand and walk on a regular basis, occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

FULL-TIME MUNICIPAL COURT CASHIER

The City of Martinsburg is accepting applications for full-time Municipal Court Cashier.  Graduation from high school or GED equivalent with course work in data entry and/or general office practices; and one (1) year prior work experience in cash handling, clerical and/or administrative work; or any equivalent combinations of education and experience.

The Municipal Court Cashier must be able to accurately handle monies received, process and maintain data and prepare deposits related to tickets, fines and municipal court proceedings. This position requires excellent customer service skills in answering phone calls and assisting customers in court matters. This position will also cover and assist the Municipal Court Clerks as assigned. Computer experience is required in order to learn, utilize and maintain computer software package for the Municipal Court system.

FULL-TIME PLANNING DEPARTMENT SECRETARY

 The City of Martinsburg has an immediate opening for a full-time position as a Planning Department Secretary.  Minimum education requirements of high school graduation or GED equivalent with specialized course work in general office practices preferred. Successful candidate will perform clerical and administrative work in answering phones, receiving the public, providing customer assistance and processing data. Applicant will prepare agendas, with supporting material, for all boards and commission meetings and may be required to attend up to three (3) evening meetings per month, including taking and transcribing meeting minutes. Duties also include scheduling appointments, composing and editing a variety of correspondence and researching property records. Excellent communication both verbally and written and demonstrated customer service skills are required. Skills must also include the ability to develop and maintain spreadsheets, manage data, and perform other duties as assigned. Salary is a Grade 9-$32,235 annually with excellent benefit package. This temporary seasonal employment, typically working 40 hours per week, will be for a period not to exceed ninety (90) days. Pay rate is $13.00 per hour with no benefits.
