WATER METER TECHNICIAN

The City of Martinsburg Utilities Department is accepting applications for a Water Meter Technician.

Graduation from high school or GED equivalent, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.  Successful candidate must be certified by the WV Public Service Commission for the testing of 5/8” thru 2” water meters or become certified within six months of hire.  Must have knowledge of data entry and the ability to accurately read and record data from various types of meter dials and specialized equipment.

Successful candidate performs a variety of skilled utility work in the installation, replacement, testing, and adjustment of utility meters.  While performing this job, the employee regularly works outside in various weather conditions, which can be hazardous at times. The ability to apply basic math skills is required, including the ability to perform and record math computations accurately and quickly. This position also assists with water taps, main repairs and works with installation crews. Record keeping duties include tracking of stock parts, replacements, and requisitions for stock supplies.  Must possess and maintain a valid driver license and be able to meet the physical requirements of the position.
